LASA condemns serious excesses in the use of force in Chile, Ecuador, and Haiti

Faced with the growth of social upheaval in several Latin American countries, LASA condemns the serious excesses in the use of force, particularly in Chile, Ecuador, and Haiti. The state’s call for a state of emergency and curfews in Ecuador and Chile has resulted in arrests, injuries and even the death of protesters, many of them belonging to the most vulnerable groups in society, including student movements and educational communities.
