The call for the awards Charles A. Hale Fellowship for Mexican History and LASA Media Award is still open

We invite you to nominate candidates for the following LASA2023 awards. Nominees can be anyone whose work in the Latin American Studies field you consider prominent, not only LASA members.

November 15, 2022, is the deadline to submit nominations. Each award has its own submission requirements, selection committee, and evaluation criteria. ​Click the following links to learn more.

Charles A. Hale Fellowship for Mexican History

This fellowship will reward excellence in historical research on Mexico at the dissertation level. It will be awarded at each LASA International Congress to a Mexican graduate student in the final phase of his or her doctoral research in Mexican history, broadly defined. Selection will be based on scholarly merit, and on the candidate’s potential contribution to the advancement of humanist understanding between Mexico and its global neighbors.

LASA Media Award

The LASA Media Award is made at every LASA Congress to recognize long-term journalistic contributions to analysis and public debate about Latin America in the United States and in Latin America, as well as breakthrough journalism. Nominations are invited from LASA members and from journalists.
