Registration Costs

Mindful of the current circumstances that have affected the world, and given the geographical and income diversity of our current members, this year LASA is providing three registration options to participate in the LASA2021 Congress; progressive model, solidarity fee and, pay what you can.

Progressive model

New registration rates use a two-dimensional model based on the Human Development Index of the United Nations and the World Bank classification of income economies to account for income differences worldwide.

Hence, the price of your registration is based on two variables: the registration category below which corresponds to your LASA membership type and your country of residence. To see the category of your country of residence please click on country categories.

Regular registration has nine yearly income range subcategories due to the income diversity of our current members.

Solidarity fee

LASA has created a registration category of $400 for those who wish to contribute to LASA. This category will help subsidize the registration of those who, because of their economic situation, have chosen the “pay what you can” category.

Pay what you can

If you wish to participate in LASA2021 but are not able to pay the rate in the progressive model, then you will be able to enroll with the amount you can afford.

Registration Refund Policy: NO REFUNDS

Many more people would like to serve on panels than the Program Committee can accommodate. After discovering that participants agree to deliver a paper or act as discussants/chairs only to withdraw at the last moment, leaving panel spaces empty that others would have gladly filled, LASA has enacted a no-refund policy to encourage accepted panelists to fulfill their obligations to attend the meeting.

As a result, LASA does not refund Congress registration payments, even in cases where the registrant is unable to attend the Congress or the registrant’s proposal submission was not accepted. Please finalize your plans to attend the Congress before preregistering.
